"Winter Remembers Summer" mixed media: ink and watercolor
"Winter Remembers Summer"
Central Illinois winters are brutal, with Alberta Clippers and
Arctic Blasts whipping across the open fields, now bare of crops.
We tend to forget how hot and humid Midwestern summers are,
but Winter remembers...

"Chuck's Things" oil on canvas
"Chuck's Things"
This oil still life is made up of items belonging
to my dad, that I inherited when he passed away in 2005.
My dad's favorite style of clothing was
the Western cowboy look, hence the boot,
belt, and hat. In winter he covered himself
with the woolen Indian blanket as he sat next
to his woodstove trying to keep warm. The tea
kettle of water was a permanent fixture on the
flat top of the stove. Oh, and he was a pretty
good horseshoe pitcher, too.

"Western Still Life" oil on canvas 16x20 (SOLD)
"Western Still Life"
I ran across a photo of this painting
I did back when I was a member of the local Art League
and we painted together every Wednesday. Usually we
worked on our own projects, but one day we decided to do
a still life as a group. I volunteered to bring in the objects
--- not your ordinary bowl of fruit and flowers.
I wonder what my husband thought of hauling that
heavy wagon wheel to town. When we sold our last horse,
the saddle went with her, but I still have the other items.

"Tangled Up in Blue" Collage, 24x24
"Tangled Up in Blue"
It's impossible to show the rich textures and
details of this piece. Yes, that's a chopstick in
the center, and the strips of tiny blue squares
are 1-inch square bits of watercolor paper painted
various shades of blue.

"Soleil Rouge" mixed media 24x24 (SOLD)
"Soleil Rouge" (or Red Sun)
This 2-ft square mixed-media painting features acrylic
paint, a raised disk for the body of the sun, made from
a light-weight "clay" and the white lines going out from
the sun were extruded texture medium.

"Spring Thaw" oil on canvas, about 24"x36"
